Doug, saw you said you always recommend POR for moderate resort. I'm a single mom bringing 6 y/o princess back for 2nd trip. Coming 12/22/2010 for 6 nights. Booked POFQ; Pop Century in May '09. Ok choice? Want nice, on budget. Thanks! You're great help!!

    Michele,

You are correct that I often recommend Port Orleans Riverside for a moderate resort. I do love Coronado Springs for adult-only groups, and it is hard to argue with Caribbean Beach if you have a budding pirate in your party, but for value for dollar, I prefer Port Orleans more often than not.

I think that your selections are really great, and seasonally well timed. I think it is better to go with the moderate over the value during the holiday season, as the decor is even more of a spectacle in a moderate. I think during the holidays your resort plays a larger part in the overall vacation experience. I know that my recent December stay at Coronado Springs made me appreciate how much the staff at the moderate resorts really try to get you in the festive mood during the season!

Try to plan at least one boat trip from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney, especially in the evening if you can. It can be chilly, so dress appropriately, but a trip there can be scenic, and the holiday buzz can really make for a great night!

    So bottom line: GREAT CHOICE!

    Have a magical vacation!
