Hi Doug! Planning a trip in June 2010. When is the best time to make reservations? I was thinking of Jan. 2010. I want to hold out for any Disney specials for 2010 summer. What is your opinion? Thanks

    Jaynee,

When it comes to reservations for Walt Disney World, I always say the sooner the better. If you are looking for a particular and special room type, the sooner your reservation is in, the higher up on the list you will be.

But if you are not looking for anything too different from a standard room, you are probably wise to wait. I would personally make them in December and then I keep an eye out for specials, though early January might still be OK. Remember, however, that many resorts will book up, so if you have one in particular in mind, you run the risk of not being able to stay there.

If after you have your reservation set you see something pop up that would save you money, get free dining, or otherwise improve the value of your vacation, just call back and ask to have that promotion applied to your reservation. Sometimes it will require canceling your current reservation and then making a new reservation with that special program, but that is not as big of a hassle as you think.

    Have a magical vacation!
