    Hi Doug! You have been so much help in planning our trips. Can you recommend any books on Disney? We have trips planned for 08/10 and 01/11and I want to cover as much as I can and I love to read. Also, any opinions on touringplans.com? Thxs

    Linda,

    As the author of a travel guide and iPhone app, I am a bit biased. But there are lots of other great books out there too. Let me recommend the following;

    Hidden Mickey's Guide - This is a fun adventure for many, and if you forget to get these books before coming to Walt Disney World you will find them available for sale in the Disney resort and park shops.

    Walt Disney World Trivia Guides - Two volumes by Lou Mongello, (a popular podcaster) are my very favorite non-guide books out there.

    As for travel guides, the official ones from Disney are nice, and can be fun reading for kids. But they paint an always-rosy picture that doesn't help you plan out your vacation all that well.

    The Unofficial Guide is the best-seller, and while it is a concrete block (over 700 pages, I think), and it offers details that you may not need, it is a good choice too.

    I recommend their touring plans that you mentioned, as they are a tremendous help during the busier seasons. I don't recommend them during slower park times, not because they are not good (they are), but because I prefer a more relaxed, spontaneous approach to touring.

    Have a magical vacation!
