Hi Doug! I just had another concern about park plans on 01/09/11. You have us at MK all day. Will it be extra crowded due to the marathon? Where exactly is the marathon & does it mean it will busier all week or just that weekend? Thanks again.

    Linda,

Typically the endurance races at Walt Disney World are held either in the evenings after parks close, or more often they start so early in the morning that runners are through the park before standard operating hours.

What the marathon does for the crowd level is simply increase the overall attendance at Walt Disney World somewhat. It also packs in the table service restaurants both the night before and the night of the marathon. Lots of carb loading and then celebratory dinners!

I would stick to the plan as is, but if you are still concerned, you could swap that park day with another full park day somewhere else. I do really love making the Magic Kingdom the first stop, but you will make it there eventually, so make the change if it makes you feel more comfortable.

    Have a magical vacation!
