Hi Doug - if I am booked as a guest on a resort package and I can no longer go but a family member will take my place. How do I change person on reservation / tickets?

    Linda,

Thanks for asking me your question at planDisney!

Over the years I have loved the added convenience that Disney has baked into the digital experience. The My Disney Experience App on our phones is an invaluable tool to have at hand when we are in the parks. Planning ahead of time via the website, making dining reservations, and discovering new adventures have never been easier.

In some cases, you should be able to go into your My Disney Experience Account online and make the change yourself. Hover over “My Disney Experience” on the website, and then select “My Plans”. Under your reservations, you should see “Modify Reservation”. Following along those prompts you should see the option to change the assignment of the person dropping off of the party in favor of the one you are adding.

No! I don’t see that! It won’t let me change it myself!

Well, don’t worry. Sometimes these planning changes just need that human element. Since it is you who is being changed out, it may require you to have a phone call with a Disney Cast Member. You can find some of the support phone numbers on the Help Center page, but I guess that the number you will want to call is (407) 934-7639. They will either be able to help you make that change or will be able to connect you with the people who can.

NO! Not a phone call! I will be stuck on hold all day long!

Yes, a phone call. But before you worry, I can say with supreme confidence (and more than a few personal experiences under my belt), that these cast members are friendly, efficient, and helpful. You will find that should you not be able to make the change yourself online, these folks are going to solve your request quickly!

I am sorry you are not going to be able to make this trip, but helping your traveling party get everything squared away ahead of time will be a welcome gift that you give them in the new year ahead. Plus, I know from all the questions and answers that you and I have exchanged over time, that you are likely to visit again soon!

    BONUS TIP
It will likely help a great deal if the person being added to the reservation has already set up a My Disney Experience account, and that it has been added to your Friends and Family links.

In a few days, I am going into the Disney vault to take a long winter’s nap (like Sleeping Beauty, but nobody has ever called me a ‘beauty’!). But please do write the planDisney panel back if you have any follow-up questions. They are great at helping finalize your Disney vacation planning!

    Have a Magical Vacation!
