Welcome aboard, Brian! Part of the fun of sailing with Disney Cruise Line is decorating our stateroom door so that it's easy to spot our unique door in the long hallway of matching doors. Many guests do this, and it makes it so much fun, not just for those who decorate their own doors, but also for other guests walking the hallways and getting to see the decorations!
Most guests will make their own magnetic decorations. My family and I have done it a few ways. We used to order magnetic printer paper, design our own decorations, and then print them directly onto the paper and cut it out. That is a great way, but unless you order really thick, strong magnetic paper, the magnetics doesn't tend to stay up as well. So, more recently, we've begun to design our own images, print them on card stock, laminate them, and then glue on stronger magnets. That works really well!
If you're not a designer, don't worry! Just do an online search for Disney Cruise Line magnet designs, and you'll find all sorts of free designs that others have created and shared. Print them out and add your own names! Or order personalized creations from sellers on Etsy.
Other guests purchase Disney-themed magnets from their local Disney Store or
ShopDisney.com and decorate with those. Disney Cruise Line sells stateroom door decor in their shops onboard, so you can certainly wait and pick out decorative magnets once onboard too. Or, check out their
Gifts and Amenities which are available for pre-order to have your stateroom decorated upon your arrival! That's a fun surprise for the family!
Brian, however you choose to decorate your door, just be sure you're using only magnets, as other adhesives or hooks are not allowed, and you'll have one fancy and unique door to greet you each time you return to your stateroom! Have such fun!
