Hi Mary! You get an A+ for your research skills, because in my opinion, the Yacht and Beach Club resorts are two of the best at Walt Disney World! The Stormalong Bay pool that the two resorts share is free to guests of those resorts. It's like having a mini water park at your resort -- there's a gigantic slide, a sandy beach, a lazy river and a whirlpool! My kids love that in addition to swimming, the pool staff is always organizing fun activities such as games, line dancing and poolside crafts.
In addition to the awesome pool, the Yacht and Beach Club have bright, cheery rooms that are amply-sized, and a location that's convenient to lots of dining options, the nightlife on the Boardwalk, and Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
The Wilderness Lodge also has a wonderful location close to the action. It's
just a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, and very close to the Fort
Wilderness Resort and the hotels on the monorail route, which gives you lots of
options for dining and activities. If you're planning to spend a lot of your
time at the Magic Kingdom, the Wilderness Lodge is a good choice. The rooms there are smaller and more rustic than the ones at the Yacht and Beach Club, and the pool is nice but not as impressive.
While I like both resorts, I personally prefer the Yacht and Beach Club. The rooms feel more luxurious, and Stormalong Bay can't be beat. I also like the ability to walk to Epcot and have dinner at the great restaurants in the World Showcase.
