I've never done a holiday party at MK and I am contemplating the Very Merry Christmas Party. What makes this different than going to the park during the day?

    Hey Howdy Hey Kimberly,

It is great to see you back at planDisney! I love a trip to Walt Disney World Resort any time of the yEAR, but there is something even more magical when visiting over the holidays. No matter how often I am "home" during the Christmas season, it still takes my breath away the first time I see Main Street U.S.A. all decked out in lights and decorations!

One of our favorite activities during the holiday season is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This special event is held on select evenings at Magic Kingdom from early November until just before Christmas. While entry requires the purchase of a separate ticket, there are numerous special features that make it well worth the extra cost. First, there is a limited number of tickets available and most attractions remain open during the party. This means that it is very likely that you will see shorter wait times on the attractions you love. I do not know about you but extra rides on Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion sound great to me!

Party-goers can enjoy unlimited hot chocolate and cookies at various spots throughout the theme park, and if that does not satisfy your sweet tooth, there are plenty of seasonal options available for purchase as well. Guests will be treated to fun photo op locations and special character interactions, including the opportunity to meet the rare Disney pals that are not always available for meet and greets - for example Jack Skellington (aka Sandy Claws). All of the Disney friends are decked out in their holiday best and cannot wait to pose for pictures and sign autographs. On top of all of that,  you will find adorable entertainment options that are only offered on party nights  like Mickey's Most Merriest Celebration,  A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show and the Club Tinsel Dance Party. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes as you just may want to join the dancing elves and reindeer as they get their groove on to fun musical hits. But wait - there is even more! This includes an exclusive fireworks show (Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks) and a special parade complete with snowfall on Main Street U.S.A. The big man in the red suit has even been known to drop in from the North Pole to join the festivities.

This is often the best night of our trip! Guests with tickets for that night's party are able to enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4pm EST, so we often spend the earlier part of the day relaxing at our Disney Resort pool or shopping at Disney Springs and then heading over to Magic Kingdom just before 4pm. That way we can save our general admission ticket for another day and use our special event ticket that day. One tip - if you are planning on attending one of the parties, be sure to purchase your ticket soon. These parties are extremely popular and often sell out well in advance.

Hope you have a magical time! If I can help with any additional planning tips, please stop back to see me

    T-T-F-N (Ta-Ta for now),
