Dolphin swim or encounter @ Blue Lagoon? We are a family of 5 and have kids age 2, 4 & 7. My husband wants to do the swim and my 7yr old says she wants to but not sure she is big enough to really enjoy it or if the encounter would be better. Advice?

Welcome aboard, Stacy! The Blue Lagoon Dolphin Swim is one Port Adventure that we have on our list for our cruise later this year!

If your daughter loves dolphins like my almost seven year old daughter does, the swim is the perfect excursion for her! I have had the chance to speak with many guests about their experiences with the dolphin "swims" versus the "encounters" at the various ports. The overwhelming consensus is that if you can afford the extra amount to book the "swim" instead, do it. The encounter says that it is 30 minutes long. However, keep in mind, that includes time for all the guests on the trip to meet the dolphin. You can expect to really only have a few minutes each to do a handshake, hug/kiss and photo opportunity with the dolphin. While I've heard that this is fantastic, most of the guests had wished they had paid the extra amount to actually have more time to swim and be pushed across the tank by the dolphin. Those who did book the swim were thrilled with their experience.

So, I'd highly suggest the swim over the encounter. If you're paying that much anyway, a few extra dollars will give your husband and daughter an even more memorable experience. We can't wait to surprise our daughter with this later this year. Have fun planning the rest of your vacation with Disney Cruise Line, Stacy! Let me know if I can help with any other questions before you set sail!
