Hi there, Sophie! Welcome to planDisney and thanks for cruising by with your question. You’re a girl after my own heart...it sounds like you love staying active on holiday, and I’m happy to help.
The
Castaway Cay 5K is one of my favorite island activities! It used to be a scheduled event, but now guests can complete it at their own pace anytime during the day. It’s an honor-based run, so you just follow the marked course and then pick up your finisher’s medal at the bike rental stand afterwards.
If you’d rather swap running shoes for pedals, you can rent a bike and ride the 5K route, just keep in mind that medals are typically reserved for runners. Many guests still enjoy biking the 5K course because it’s the same paved path used for the island’s Bike & Nature Trail. You can rent bikes right at the start/finish area, or
reserve one in advance in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once your booking window opens. While you’re on the trail, don’t miss the Observation Tower, because it’s a short climb to the top and rewards you with stunning 360° views of the island and the ship.
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a little different. When I visited earlier this year, I asked the Port Adventures Desk about bikes and the 5K. I was told both are planned for the island, but there wasn’t a set date yet. I’ve heard that
bikes may now be available and that there’s a new sign marking the 5K route, so fingers crossed it’s ready by your cruise! Either way, be sure to take in the warm breezes and the gorgeous pink-tinted sand there, as it’s truly unforgettable.
Have the best time on your
Halloween on the High Seas cruise, Sophie!
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
