We are doing our 1st Disney trip 04/13. Do we have to make reservations for dining? I am not sure my child will sit well - it might be a day-by-day sort of thing.

Welcome to the Mom's Panel, Nicole!  Congratulations on your first Walt Disney World Vacation!  That's a great question!  You do not have to make Advanced Dining Reservations for table-service meals if you do not want to be locked into set dining times.  Quick-service restaurants are walk up and do not accept Advanced Dining Reservations. On our first few Walt Disney World Vacations, we only dined at quick-service dining locations. We still eat at least one quick-service meal per day on our Disney trips! However, once we started experiencing table-service dining we were hooked. We find that we really enjoy having one sit-down meal daily!  We have traveled when our children were infants, toddlers, and now school-age. The Walt Disney World Restaurants are very child friendly and trust me when I say that my children have not always sat still throughout the entire dining process. I would recommend booking a Character Dining Experience in which several of the Disney Characters greet you table side for autographs and photo opportunities while you dine. Children under three years of age are free of charge when sharing from an adult's plate. Follow the link I provided to learn more about Character Dining Experiences. I would also recommend visiting the unofficial website allears.net to view their extensive listing of Walt Disney World Restaurant menus.  I also wanted to mention that while booking Advanced Dining Reservations for table-service restaurants is highly recommended, you can often find last minute availability at some table-service locations.  I hope this helps!  Please feel free to write me back with any additional questions you may have. Best wishes for a Magical 2013 Trip, Nicole!
    Happy Planning,
