We are doing the Dark Side 5K in April, staying at GF, and want to book a character breakfast somewhere that day. Do you know roughly when we can expect to finish up and what's a safe time to book breakfast back at one of the resorts or parks?

    Hi Jennifer!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I really wish there was an exact time I could give you, but a lot of this depends on your own personal pace as a runner! I'm hoping by walking you through the logic I use for my own family we can come up with a time that works for yours!

Since you'll be running the Star Wars 5K, there is much less variability than trying to work out for a Half Marathon distance so that's great news! The Star Wars 5K is currently scheduled to start at 5:30 AM, but the location itself has not been announced so this does equate to some variability. With a race starting at this time, I would estimate based on worst case scenario that you are at the very back of the corrals and you don't actually start the race until 6:30 AM, if you know this won't be the case you can adjust accordingly. I would add your running time for 3.1 miles onto this and potentially add anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on how many characters you think you'll want to stop for. Once you finish the race you are going to need another 15-20 minutes to collect your finisher medal and your snack box and get to transportation. I'd give yourself an hour to get to anywhere on property at a Resort hotel and potentially tack on another 30 minutes if you plan on entering a park to go through security and actually reach your destination. For easy math let's say you run a 5K in 30 minutes and plan on stopping for maybe 2 characters and want to do a breakfast at a Resort hotel, I'd make your reservation for no earlier than 8:30 AM. While this isn't an exact science, I hope it helps you figure out a time for yourself!

Please let me know if you have any other questions and May the Force be with you on the course!
