Hi, Michelle! Thank you for bringing your question to us at what must be a bittersweet time for your family. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your husband, and I hope your time at
Walt Disney World is spent reminiscing about the wonderful memories you made on those family vacations.
There is not an official option to organize a balloon release through Walt Disney World, but that doesn't mean there aren't ways to honor your husband. You could
make a reservation at his favorite restaurant, where you can toast his memory and tell stories of vacations past. You could purchase
Disney Gift Cards in an amount just enough to buy a Mickey Bar or Dole Whip, and hand them out at moments when you feel a special reminder of your husband. You could put them in envelopes with a note to let the recipient know it's a token to honor a wonderful guy.
If your husband had a favorite Disney movie, hand out trinkets that would bring that movie to mind. Think of things like a grape soda bottle pin from the movie
Up. Have one of your favorite images of your husband printed on a t-shirt for the family to wear, and use the
Disney Photopass photographers to capture pictures of your family near Dad's favorite attractions or with his favorite characters. You could even stop by guest services and get the I'm Celebrating buttons, and have them write in your husband's name.
I know this will be a difficult trip, Michelle. Your family will be in my thoughts as you take this brave step towards creating new and magical memories in a tradition your husband would have loved.
Anna
