I am going to Disneyworld for Thanksgiving this year and I wondering if there was anything special to check for? A special dining menu or live event, or character greeting that I should look for?

Hi Austin! Welcome to planDisney with a spud-tastic question about a holiday I often spend at Walt Disney World: Thanksgiving! Everybody knows a turkey and some pixie dust help to make the season bright! The most magical time of the year begins with Thanksgiving, and I can't think of a better place to celebrate than The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Let's start with all the Thanksgiving food options you can gobble up! As your trip approaches, be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements about specific restaurants and their Thanksgiving offerings. While we don't have all the details yet, I'm happy to share some of my family's favorite dining spots that we enjoy each year. In my opinion, the best Thanksgiving feast can be found at Liberty Tree Tavern! They serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal year-round, but dining here during the holiday is especially festive. You'll enter a charming colonial-style inn and enjoy an all-you-care-to-enjoy feast featuring turkey, pot roast, and oven-roasted pork, accompanied by all the classic fixings (including those yummy potatoes!). They are also famous for their delicious Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! Trust me, you'll leave feeling just like Winnie the Pooh—stuffed! Other restaurants that offer delicious feasts include Garden Grill Restaurant, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Hollywood & Vine, where Minnie Mouse and her friends will be dressed in their holiday best for a perfect character meet-and-greet!

Austin, you've asked your question at the perfect time. "Extra, extra, read all about it!" Just today, Disney announced some exciting holiday news! Starting November 14th, Walt Disney World will deck the halls for the holidays! You'll find the theme parks and Resort hotels decorated with festive Christmas trees that sparkle and shine. Plus, if you're looking for the traditional Thanksgiving holiday shopping experience, Disney Springs has your magical gifts! Be sure to check the Disney Parks Blog, because news about this year's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights should be announced soon!

I hope this information helps you as you make your Thanksgiving plans. I love visiting this time of year so much that I may see you there, as I have my own trip planned at the same time! Please reach out again if you have other questions. We'll help you unwrap the perfect Thanksgiving and holiday vacation! Have so much fun, Austin!
