Hello Rachel!
My family will also be running in the
2020 runDisney Star Wars Rival Run Weekend. This will be our fourth time running this event, and I need to get my training underway!
There are several
delicious food options at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports! For a full meal, the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill should be open during the Health & Fitness Expo and
runDisney Kids Races. While they don’t offer a specific gluten free menu, they do offer salads that might work. Be sure to mention your dietary needs when ordering so the Cast Members can assist you. There are also
concession stands and food trucks available during events. You may even find Pineapple Dole Whip, which is gluten and dairy free!
Depending on your schedule, it may be that you aren't actually there the entire day. We have a hearty breakfast before heading to the Health & Fitness Expo on our first day. I like to arrive early as there is usually a queue forming to shop the race specific merchandise. We can leisurely shop, pick up our bibs, and be on our way back to our resort in a few hours to drop off our treasures and have lunch.
If your kids will be doing the
runDisney Kids Races, this might be the day you would need to plan lunch, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill would be your best bet. You may also find GoGo squeeZ Applesauce in ample supply, as they are the official sponsor of the Kids Races.
On endurance race days, the race is over and your family should be back at their resort in time to shower and change for a late breakfast or early lunch. Last year the races ended in the Epcot parking lot, and runners are given beverages, a banana, and snack box to refuel. If you'd like to make any
Advance Dining Reservations for after the races, those are available for booking now. I just made my own reservations last week!
I hope this helps as you plan your exciting race weekend, and I’d be happy to help you with any additional questions as the weekend approaches. We are here to help!
May the Force Be With You!
