Aloha, Brena!
Thanks for bringing another great question to planDisney; I love that our advice has been valuable, and that you trust our guidance for your upcoming vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of my favorite places to stay on property – with its lush landscaping (and a Cinderella Castle view peeking through) and island vibes, it’s THE destination for flipping into “vacation mode.” One of the many benefits of this Disney Resorts Collection hotel is the incredible food; each dining location offers an exotic taste of the South Pacific balanced with familiar flavors for all families. Let’s look at your options for takeaway delights.
I’m sorry to say that in-room dining has only returned to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa since pausing this service during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please
see these details I shared with another Guest if you find a stay at Disney’s flagship resort in your near future.
Hakuna matata, there are several other options for having a tropical meal to go at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Once upon a time, the delightful
‘Ohana dinner was offered for in-room dining as a “Twilight Feast,” but this service has not yet returned. I confirmed with the resort that since both breakfast and dinner at ‘Ohana are offered as all-you-care-to-eat, these are not currently available for takeaway meals. ‘Ohana is one of my favorite restaurants on property so I’ve discovered a fun workaround when I cannot get a reservation. The
Tambu Lounge, located just outside ‘Ohana, serves some of the same sides such as the famous noodles or potstickers if you order them at the bar. You may ask the bartender if you can get these packaged to go, and perhaps enjoy these Asian Pacific flavors on your lanai or balcony in your resort longhouse. My friends and I discovered that you can also order the iconic Lapu Lapu drink, served in a fresh pineapple, to go – that sounds like a perfect combination for an in-room delight!
Kona Café, another wonderful table service restaurant at this resort, does offer a takeaway option. Find this in the My Disney Experience App listed as “Kona Café To Go” where you can
place a mobile order and find your meal thoughtfully packaged and ready to carry away at the restaurant for pick up. My family did this recently - we enjoyed deliciously glazed chicken wings and burgers al fresco when we carried our meal to the Oasis Pool for a quiet evening. The Oasis Bar and Grill has limited hours but is another great takeaway poolside option at this resort.
Of course, there is always
Captain Cook’s, the classic Quick-Service Restaurant located on the ground level of the Great Ceremonial House which offers to go options (via mobile order or in person). You can’t beat their Pulled Pork Nachos for a fun island twist on a classic dish.
I hope your mouth is watering as mine is just thinking about the tropical flavors and Hawaiian hospitality offered at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Brena. Please let us know how else we can help you make the most of your Disney vacations.
Cheers,
Amy
