In Disney's Hollywood Studios, we have seen pictures of children dressed as Jedi - are light sabers available for use for the Star Wars Jedi Training, or do we need to bring our own?

    Julia,

Young Jedi Knights in training (aka "Padawans") who are lucky enough to be selected for this experience are provided a training light saber and a cape at the beginning of the show.  So, no, you don't need to bring those with you.  Some children may show up dressed in Star Wars costumes, but that is definitely not necessary (nor do I think it helps them get picked).

We did this show once.  My son used practically all of his energy and voice jumping up and down and shouting "pick me, pick me" (the cast members coached the kids to do this in advance, it wasn't his idea!).  It paid off for him, as he was lucky enough to get selected to participate. He loved it, and still practices his moves on me at home (when I least expect it, of course).

I would strongly recommend that you not promise anything to your children, since only a select few are able to participate in the show.  Also you might want to try to go to earlier shows, which tend to have fewer participants, and make sure you arrive early so your children can be toward the front and therefore more likely to be selected.  If they don't get selected, you can always try at a later show a well.

May the force will be your children in the selection process! (couldn't resist - sorry)
