I am going to Disneyland with my 11, 8, and 5 year old. We want to do Savi’s Workshop and Droid Depot. Will they allow me to bring my kids as guests, or is that too many?

    Bright suns, Richard!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney as you prepare for your visit to a galaxy far, far away. Even after many visits to the Outer Rim, I continue to find exciting experiences while exploring the Black Spire Outpost.

The experiences of creating a handbuilt lightsaber at Savi's Workshop or an astromech droid unit at Droid Depot make a visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge extraordinarily special. These experiences take place in settings that are limited in space. Therefore each builder may have no more than two Guests accompany them.

To accommodate a party of four in Savi's Workshop, at least two building experiences would need to be purchased. As an alternative, you may wish to consider purchasing a legacy lightsaber at Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, where everyone could be present to view and select from an assortment of lightsabers used by well-known members of the Jedi order or Sith. Though this would not include the inspirational experience of being guided by the Gatherers in selecting pieces to create a unique, personal lightsaber, you would still end up with a treasured lightsaber that is often compatible with the same types of blades and accessories available for lightsabers from Savi's Workshop.

At Droid Depot, the area for builders occupies a section of the shop that is separated by a low barrier. While only two Guests may accompany a builder directly at the build station, other members of your party could watch from behind the barrier. If you decide to experience Droid Depot in this way, I suggest giving a camera or mobile device to the members of your party outside the barrier to have them record the experience. Be sure to turn around once in a while to present the progress of the new astromech droid unit as it comes to life one part at a time!

Tony’s Tip: Be sure to download the free Play Disney Parks app to your mobile device. Included with the app is the Star Wars: Datapad, which allows you to hack, scan, and explore features of the Black Spire Outpost to take your visit to a whole new level.

May the Force be with you, Richard!
