Hi Shruti! Welcome to planDisney. Visiting the Disneyland Resort on December 30 and 31 is an especially magical way to wrap up the year. Welcoming the New Year amid sparkling fireworks, upbeat music, and that unmistakable Disney energy is the kind of celebration that becomes a favorite memory long after the countdown ends. My wife and I have spent New Year’s Eve there ourselves, and it truly feels like one big, joyful party shared with Guests from around the world.
At this time, official details for the New Year’s Eve festivities have not yet been fully announced, beyond
the expectation of two fireworks presentations, typically one earlier in the evening around 9:00 p.m. and another at midnight. In past years, more complete information has been released in mid-December, so I recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog, the official
Disneyland social media channels, and the
Daily Events Calendar on the Disneyland website as your visit gets closer. Those are usually the first places where updates appear.
Historically, both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have offered special nighttime celebrations on December 31. These often include countdown fireworks to ring in the New Year (weather permitting), themed music, energetic dance parties in select areas, festive photo opportunities, and even complimentary party hats to help Guests get into the spirit. The atmosphere stays lively late into the night, making either theme park a wonderful choice for celebrating the arrival of 2026.
Your visit also falls during the final days of the holiday season, which adds an extra layer of magic to both parks. At Disneyland, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle glows beautifully, and snow gently falls along Main Street during select moments. Seasonal favorites like “Believe… In Holiday Magic,” “A Christmas Fantasy Parade,” and Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends! in the Fantasyland Theatre help make the entire park feel warm and festive.
Over at Disney California Adventure, the holiday cheer continues with offerings like the Holiday Toy Drummers, Mickey’s Happy Holidays cavalcade, and rotating seasonal performances such as Disney ¡Viva Navidad!, Mirabel’s Gifts of the Season, or A Musical Christmas with Mariachi Alegría de Disneyland & Miguel! The Festival of Holidays marketplaces are also a must, especially if sampling seasonal snacks is part of your family’s tradition.
No matter which park you choose for New Year’s Eve, Shruti, you’re in for a celebration filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable moments. If you have any additional questions as you finalize your plans, please stop by planDisney again. We’re always delighted to help.
Happy (early) New Year!
