We're going to Disneyland 11/24 and 11/25. We have a VIP tour booked on Monday. For Tuesday only we would like to add Lightning Lane. Is there a way to add this ahead of time? We are worried about it selling out. I can't access my tickets yet.

Hi Claire! Welcome to planDisney! Your visit to the Disneyland Resort is almost here, and I have to say, you’re already setting yourself up for a truly spectacular adventure. With a VIP Tour planned for Monday and a Lightning Lane Multi Pass in mind for Tuesday, you’re well on your way to experiencing the parks with ease, comfort, and a little extra pixie dust. I’m delighted to help you sort through the remaining details!

When it comes to purchasing the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll find that there are two simple options. The first is selecting it as an add-on at the time you purchase your theme park tickets (this is the most straightforward route if you’re starting fresh). Since you mentioned that you may already have your tickets, the second option may be the one you use: purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass directly in the Disneyland app on the day of your visit. You’ll be able to make the purchase as soon as you scan into your starting park for the day (which is ideal for both peace of mind and maximizing value). Lightning Lane Multi Pass can sell out on especially busy park days, but buying it the moment you enter usually provides the best possible chance of securing it without worry.

While you’re planning that Tuesday strategy, I’ve got a Q-Tip for you! With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can often hold more than one return time at once. The general rule is simple: after you book a reservation, you can make another once you’ve either redeemed your current return time or two hours have passed since booking it. This can give you quite a bit of flexibility as you shape your day.

For example, let’s say you book Matterhorn Bobsleds at 9:00 a.m. with a return window at 4:00 p.m. You can still pick up a Haunted Mansion Holiday return time at 11:00 a.m. without losing your Matterhorn spot (which is always a win in my book). I like to set quick reminders on my phone to keep myself synced with the two-hour rule.

Claire, your upcoming trip is shaping up to be unforgettable, and I’m thrilled for you. If any other questions pop up while you prepare, please stop by planDisney anytime. We’re always delighted to help you plan your Disneyland adventures.

Wishing you a magical visit filled with unforgettable moments!
