Hello Disney, I am a military member inquiring about ticket activation for the passes. My family is thinking of visiting your Orlando location but I will likely be unable to attend due to work. Are there still any options where they could visit

Hi Larrier, and welcome to planDisney! Thank you for your service to our country! It’s always a pleasure to help service members and their families plan special getaways to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

If you are an active or retired member of the U.S. military, you are eligible to purchase up to six Disney Military Salute tickets or the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute tickets this year. You will need to be present at Walt Disney World on the first use of the tickets in order to show your valid military ID and activate the tickets. However, if you are married, your spouse can purchase the tickets and activate them in person at Walt Disney World with their own valid military ID, and you would not have to be there. One of the tickets must be for you or your spouse, whomever is in person to activate them. These tickets can be purchased tax-free at your local military base or at the Shades of Green Resort. They can also be purchased at a Walt Disney World ticket window, but sales tax would apply.

If you or a spouse will not be available to activate the tickets in person at Walt Disney World, the next option is that you can purchase discounted tickets at your local military base. These are standard park tickets, not the Disney Military Salute offers, and they are not as deeply discounted. They are generally about 10% less than the prices available to the general public. The advantage to these tickets is that you can purchase them for family and friends, and they can use them at Walt Disney World without a military ID.

Larrier, thank you again for your service! If you have any additional questions, be sure to come back and see me. I love helping military families plan magical getaways, and I’m always here to help!

With faith, trust, & pixie dust,
