Hi, Yvonne, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
As stepmom to two adult stepsons, I remember those teen years when they were “too cool” for “kids’ stuff.” But one of the most magical things about a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation is that it’s so easy to strip away all of that pretense when you’re here. Remember how Andy in
Toy Story 3 thinks he’s ready to pack away his toys, but isn’t quite ready to part with them when the time comes? There’s a magical moment at the end of that movie where Andy remembers what it’s like to be a kid again, but he’s also able to begin making his transition to adulthood. That’s what Disney magic does for all of us: allows us to be kids again, even in the midst of our grown-up-ness.
I think you and your son could have an amazing time at
Woody’s Roundup this summer. Although there will undoubtedly be some activities geared more toward the younger crowd, as an adult I would look forward to the Character interactions, carnival games, delicious food and special viewing of
Magic Kingdom Park’s fireworks from
Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Porte Cochére. While all we know about Woody’s Roundup is what the
Disney Parks Blog has shared and what’s posted on the Walt Disney World Resort website, if it’s anything like other limited-time engagements, it’s sure to be a phenomenal experience. Maybe you could talk your son into a viewing of
Toy Story 3 before you go?
Toy Story 4 premieres in theaters June 21, so maybe you could enjoy a mother/son date to that one, too. I’ll be there with my 25 and 22-year-old stepsons!
Extend the magic by visiting
Toy Story Land at
Disney’s Hollywood Studios during your visit, too!
Slinky Dog Dash is one of my absolute favorite rides at Walt Disney World Resort (and the Totchos at
Woody’s Lunch Box are one of my favorite snacks). (Ride on the outside row of Slinky Dog Dash to get a sneak peek into the progress of
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, too!)
I hope you get to experience the magic of this event, Yvonne. Please let us know if there are any other recommendations we can suggest as you plan your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
Happy trails,
Amy
