Hi! I've been to Disney World many times and know they are great with food allergies. I'm plan in a new trip but was diagnosed with Celiac disease since the last time I visited; has anyone had any experience with the dining plan and being celiac? Thanks!

    Hi Amy!

Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We have traveled to Walt Disney World several times with my sister-in-law who also has Celiac Disease. You’ll be happy to know throughout the theme parks and resort hotels she was able to find a variety of delicious and safe items while on the Disney Dining Plan.

At quick service dining locations, we alerted a cast member on arrival that we needed to order gluten free items. They would send out a cast member, usually a manager, with a binder of information, and sit down to help my sister-in-law choose her meal. When needed, items were prepared for her fresh to prevent any cross contamination. Disney does offer gluten-free rolls, pasta and even brownies at locations throughout the resort.

When planning our Advance Dining Reservations I was sure to have it noted on that we had a member of our party with a gluten sensitivity. At each location, the chef came to our table to discuss the menu with my sister-in-law, show her safe items or offer to create something that would meet her needs. At buffets, the chef would walk through the buffet line to point out what was available to her. She was even able to have dessert. I specifically remember at Boma - Flavors of Africa, that the chef brought her out a special plate, decorated with chocolate syrup swirls with a selection of gluten free desserts. It even had a gluten free version of their famous zebra dome!

At the end of the first trip with my sister-in-law, she noted that since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease just six months earlier, that this was the best she had eaten! Rest assured that Disney’s amazing customer service and dedication to food safety for all Guests will allow you to relax and enjoy dining on your vacation.

    Happy Planning!
