We will be in Disney World for Thanksgiving. I saw an answer for someone else that Diamond Horseshoe serves turkey and filling. Can you tell me if the turkey is both white and dark meat? My sister only likes dark meat.

Oh, Wendy, darling, I am so happy you flew by planDisney with your question about Thanksgiving at Walt Disney World Resort.

There are so many reasons to love celebrating the season at Walt Disney World, and your plans sound practically perfect in every way. One of my all-time favorite Thanksgiving celebrations was dining at The Diamond Horseshoe inside Magic Kingdom Park. Thanksgiving is when people stop making fun of me for listening to Christmas music all year (I think there is never a wrong time for some holiday cheer). I could also eat Thanksgiving-style oven-roasted turkey every day. But even then, it just tastes better on Thanksgiving Day, especially at Walt Disney World.

Diamond Horseshoe is a family-style, all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurant. Your servers will bring your meal in courses for you to pass around and share, just like you would at home for a special dinner. The Saloon Feast includes roasted turkey, pot roast, and oven-roasted pork. There are mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herbed stuffing, and macaroni & cheese for sides. The turkey is both white and dark meat. You can let your server know your sister's preference, and they will likely add a little extra dark meat to the platter. That request is much easier than my son's: he wanted plain green beans. The amazing Cast Member worked with the kitchen to bring him green beans with no seasoning at all, not even salt. Cast Members are the best!

While you have turkey on your mind, do not skip the salad. Not only because vegetables are good for you, but the dressing! It really takes a regular salad and makes it memorable. One caution: don't fill up on bread. (I know, I am such a mom.) But when the Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake arrives at your table, you will know why. It's the most delicious dish.

Just a tip for visits at other times of the year: Liberty Tree Tavern has a similar menu year-round. Like my Christmas music, this is the place to go if you need a dose of happy memories and comfort. It's a must-do for us every park visit. And my son still gets plain green beans.

I cannot imagine a better way to ring in the most wonderful time of the year than being at the Most Magical Place on Earth! I hope your holiday overflows with core memories that warm your heart. If you have any other questions, you know you have a friend in planDisney.

    Faith, Hope and Pixie Dust!
