I am going to the Disney World Resort for the very first time in August. I am 16, my brother 21 and my parents. I need a desperate help with packing. What should I take and what not to take? Thanks!

In August it will be very hot, so take plenty of cool clothes. Because you'll be sweating in the parks, you may wish to have a change of clothes for the evenings, especially if you have any nice dinner reservations planned. And of course a swimsuit! You won't need to bring a pool towel - Disney has them available.

Take very comfortable shoes! Don't bring anything new - there's way too much walking in Disney to break in new shoes, and your feet will hurt.

    Hat and/or sunglasses.

A small first-aid kit is helpful - band-aids, antibiotic ointment, tylenol, bug spray, and sunscreen are all important.

Some small, handheld battery powered fans are always popular in my family. We can pick these up in drug stores here for about $1 and they are worth their weight in gold on a hot day! Just don't forget extra batteries!

A small backpack is very handy to wear in the park to carry all of the above, plus a water bottle, maps, etc.

Because there are several people in my family, I find it convenient to take a plastic over-the-door shoe holder to hang on the outside of the bathroom door in the resort. We use this to hold hairbrushes, curling irons, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, etc. It really helps to keep the sink uncluttered for housekeeping and everything organized for us in the mornings.

Best of luck, and have a wonderful vacation!
