We are going to Disney World in October and staying at the Polynesian. I was wondering what part of the hotel was closest to the transportation (monorail, buses, etc.)? I would like our room to be as close as possible. Thank You.

Sorry to say this, but it depends. ;-)  On what?  It depends on whether you want to take the monorail to Epcot (and therefore are better off being closer to the Transportation and Ticket Center ["TTC"]), or want to take the resort's buses and/or the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

The buildings closest to the resort's bus and monorail stop are: Rarotonga, Tonga, and Niue.  All are very similar in distance to the resort's bus and monorail transportation.  I think these are the most convenient buildings for most transportation needs.

If you want to be close to the TTC, then you are better off saying at Tahiti or Rapa Nui.

Lastly, there is also a boat from the resort to the Magic Kingdom.  The boat dock is closest to Samoa and Hawaii.  Sorry to add even more to the confusion, but I like to try to be complete! :-)

Bonus tip:  I highly recommend visiting Steve "Tikiman" Seifert's Polynesian resort fan site at www.tikiman2001.homestead.com for lots of interesting information about this resort.
