Can I use my Disney World Magicband+ at Disneyland?

Welcome to planDisney, Leyne! Your Disneyland adventure is almost here. How exciting! We at planDisney are thrilled to help you tie up those last magical details before your visit. Let’s dive right into your great question about MagicBands.

If you already have a MagicBand+ from Walt Disney World, I’m happy to share that you can absolutely use it at the Disneyland Resort. MagicBand+ works on both coasts, so there’s no need to buy a new one unless your current band is an older style (the earlier generations that don’t have the “+” in their name). Those original versions aren’t supported at Disneyland, so if that’s what you have, you’ll want to upgrade to a MagicBand+. New bands are available on the ShopDisney website, at the Disneyland Resort Hotels, and throughout Downtown Disney and the parks themselves.

Here’s a helpful Q-Tip, Leyne: to get your MagicBand+ up and running at Disneyland, you’ll need to link it through the Disneyland app. Start by logging into your MyDisney account, tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom right, scroll to “MagicBand+” under the Account section, and then tap the blue plus sign in the corner to add your band. Once paired, it’s ready to use!

Your MagicBand+ can do more than just serve as your park ticket. It makes scanning into the parks a breeze, helps you redeem Lightning Lane return times with a quick tap, and even links your Disney PhotoPass pictures. Plus, there are fun extras like the way the band lights up and vibrates in sync with nighttime spectaculars. For example, during World of Color Happiness! your MagicBand+ joins the show with its own glow. My personal favorite moment? At the end of Haunted Mansion Holiday, the band flashes a spooky red as the Ghost Host reminds us to “hurry back!” It always makes me smile.

If you’re a collector at heart, you might also enjoy browsing the Disneyland-exclusive MagicBand+ designs. I’ve seen ones themed to Tomorrowland attractions and seasonal celebrations, which make for both a useful tool and a memorable souvenir.

So yes, your MagicBand+ from Disney World will work just fine at Disneyland, and it will add a little extra pixie dust to your visit. Wishing you a truly magical Disney day, Leyne!

    Happy adventuring,
    David
