We are going to Disney World in January 2014. We are coming with a 5 yr old, 2 yr old and 6 month old. What do you recommend packing and bringing from home and what do you recommend purchasing once we get down there?

Hi, Mattea!  Everything you need, you will likely find here, but the things I would definitely bring from home would be specific to your children's needs.  If the baby is on special formula or certain food, you might want to make sure you have that with you.  Also, while you can purchase diapers, formula, and other baby essentials here, they are likely to be a bit pricier than you would find at home - and in smaller packages.  You might even want to consider packing a box of things for the baby to ship ahead of time to your resort.

If the kids have something they sleep with, bring that.  Hats, sunscreen, even sunglasses would be good - although there are some super cute Disney sunglasses at hats here.  January can have weather that is quite cold and very warm (we just enjoyed weather in the mid-80s during our vacation this week!), so bring clothing you can layer, in case you are waking up to cold mornings and enjoying warm afternoons.

Have a short supply of things like children's Tylenol or cold medicine if you can squeeze it in your bags.  Also, make sure to have any medications or even snacks that you know your kids can't live without with you.

There are plenty of grocery type items already at your resort.  You'll find milk, juice, breakfast foods, some snacks, and lots of choice in beverages.  You will also find things you may have forgotten or not thought you needed, such as band-aids, sunscreen, toiletries, etc.

I also keep a few small things in my backpack for the kids to play with as they wait in line.  Quiet toys they can hold in their hands work well.

    Have an absolutely wonderful vacation!
