I will be going to Disney World Dec 10- Dec 14 for my son's birthday. I was told to make sure he gets a birthday pin, I want to know what happens if I get the pin. I heard that the characters and cast members say happy birthday is there anything else?

Hi, Aesha!  The birthday pin is available at Guest Services at any of the theme parks, and pretty much what they do is allow people to recognize your son's birthday.  You'll find random park guests and cast members wishing him a happy birthday, and if you do a character meet and greet, I have seen the characters make a big deal and huge gestures to acknowledge a child's birthday.

You will also generally get some kind of acknowledgement in the restaurants for your birthday - like a special birthday dessert.  And, of course, if you go on his birthday and have proof of his date of birth (his birth certificate or a passport), he can get into the park for free!

The birthday button is mostly for fun.  My kids get a kick out of all the happy birthday wishes they get, and your son might as well.  It's worth having!

    Have a great vacation!
