Welcome back to planDisney, Joel! Planning ahead is the best way to set yourself up for a smooth visit to the Disneyland Resort, and I’m glad you reached out. I’d be happy to walk you through the process of using the
Disability Access Service (DAS) so your whole group can enjoy their time at the Happiest Place on Earth.
Eligibility for DAS is confirmed through
a video conversation with a specially-trained Cast Member. You won’t need (or be able) to provide medical paperwork during this chat, but the guest who needs DAS must be present when the interview takes place.
Joel. I have a few other tips for you to help prepare for your visit. You can begin online registration up to 60 days before your arrival, and I recommend completing it ahead of time if you can. It saves valuable time once you’re in the parks. To start, scroll down the official DAS registration page to the “Ready to Chat with a Cast Member?” section, agree to the Terms and Conditions, and then select “Request Live Chat.”
If you’re unable to register online, you can still take care of it in person once you arrive. The
Accessibility Services Kiosk sits on the east side of the Esplanade near Disney California Adventure. It opens an hour before the parks do and stays available until two hours before closing.
After DAS is added to your account, be sure to download the
Disneyland app. From there, you can request attraction return times as soon as you’ve scanned into the park for the day. Just tap the menu (≡) at the bottom, select the DAS tile, and you’ll see your return options. You’re able to request a new return time ten minutes after redeeming the last one, with one active return time at a time. The great news? Once assigned, those return times remain valid until the attraction closes or the park does, whichever comes first, giving your party lots of flexibility.
If a mobile device isn’t available, you can still use DAS by stopping by Guest Relations or Accessibility Services kiosks throughout the parks. They’re easy to spot with their umbrella covers, and Cast Members will be glad to help you secure return times.
When putting together your day, it can be helpful to build in a few calming moments. A classic choice is the
Disneyland Railroad. This scenic ride circles the park with gentle motion, relaxing sounds, and shaded seats which makes train perfect for taking a breather while staying right in the middle of the magic.
Joel, I hope this gives you confidence as you get ready for your Disneyland adventure. And if you think of more questions while planning, we’ll be here at planDisney to lend a hand.
Wishing you a magical visit,
David
