Hello. We are going to be on our Disney Vacation from Nov. 12 - 17 with a 5 year old. I was wondering if Mickey's Christmas Party at MK is worth going to and do you have to be there right when it starts? Dinner reservations are somewhere else.

    Hi Jodi,

Our family absolutely loves the special event parties at Magic Kingdom. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is worth the additional ticket cost. There are a number of special shows only available during the party nights, and the parade and fireworks show are also unique to this event (and both are amazing). The Disney pals are about and about in the holiday outfits just about everywhere you turn and we even love the cookies, hot chocolate and snow on Main Street. On top of all of this is the limited number of tickets they sell. This means that the crowds are generally much smaller than a regular park day and the ability to jump on the attractions with little if any wait is what brings us back year after year. Well worth the price given the amount of things we are able to see and do in that one evening.

The party begins around 7pm however your ticket will grant you entrance into the Magic Kingdom starting at 4pm on the party day. While there are some guests who do come later in the evening, we like to be there right at 4pm. We usually have an early dinner there while waiting for the park to close to the day guests and then we are ready to go when the event kicks off. Personally I think for the money spent, it is best to be there the full time of the party and enjoy all there is. My suggestion would be to try and move your dinner reservation to a Magic Kingdom restaraunt, if not, I would plan on heading to Magic Kingdom as quickly as you can once your meal is finished.

Hope you have a great time!
