Hi Stacy,
How exciting to be planning your first Disney World vacation. I had to chuckle at your question because I just recently stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins, and like you, I am not a camper. To be truthful, no one in my family is, and we were worried that the "roughing it" approach would not be for us. I am happy to say that we did not "rough it" even one time and loved our first stay so much, that we turned around and returned back to Fort Wilderness just a couple of months later for another visit.
Fort Wilderness contains both campsites that can be used for tent and RV camping, and individual cabins for those of us that has no clue how to pitch a tent or level an RV. The cabins are all nicely remodeled and feature a bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds, and a pull down murphy bed in the living room. The cabin will sleep up to six and the beds are just as soft and comfy as those in a regular resort room. There is a large bathroom (it even has running water) and a nice size kitchenette area with all the cooking amenities. Each cabin has its own deck area and outdoor grill. The area is beautiful with surrounding trees and landscape and is quite peaceful.
The property itself features a number of amenities like fishing, carriage rides, horseback riding, dinner shows, campfire sing-along and free movie night. You can find additional information on all the property has to offer
here. I am sure your family will love all that Fort Wilderness offers and you won't even break a nail. Have an amazing time!
