While I was at Disney two years ago we were outside the gates before the Magic Kingdom opened. When Mickey rode in on the train there was a family with him to help open the gates. How in the world could you get chosen for something like that?

Hi Melanie,

My family so want to get chosen to be that special family too, not only do you get to open the park but to have those special memories with all the characters must be amazing! Last trip we made an extra special effort to get to the Magic Kingdom very early and the family had already been chosen. It is completely random and my only advice is to get there as early as you can, we arrived about an hour before park opening and that still wasn't early enough. Once you're there be happy, chat to some of the Cast Members (Disney employees) that are at the turn stiles, maybe trade some pins with them, but mostly look like jolly cheerful Disney vacationers.
