Ahoy, Lynn! Thanks so much for sailing by planDisney with your question. It sounds like you may be planning your first Disney Cruise, and I’m thrilled to help!
When it comes to
cruising with teens, you really can’t go wrong with any of the Disney ships. Each one has a dedicated teen space called
Vibe, designed just for guests ages 14–17. It’s the perfect hangout spot where they can make new friends, join fun activities like karaoke or scavenger hunts, or just chill in a space all their own. My youngest teenage son had a blast in Vibe on the Disney Magic just last summer!
In general, the newer ships, like the Disney Dream, Fantasy, Wish, and Treasure, offer more modern, updated spaces. For example, on the Dream and Fantasy, Vibe even has its own private sundeck with a pool, just for teens! On the Disney Wish and Treasure, the space feels like a trendy Parisian loft with indoor and outdoor areas. But don’t count out the classic ships; the Magic and Wonder also have great Vibe spaces with a rustic themed decor tucked into the forward funnel, and they keep teens entertained from morning till late at night.
Honestly, the best part for many teens (mine included!) is the sense of freedom. All of the Disney Cruise Line ships are safe and easy to navigate, so our boys loved the independence of walking around, meeting friends,
playing basketball on the Sports Deck, and grabbing unlimited soft-serve ice cream whenever they wanted. As a mom of three (nearly grown) boys, I really appreciate how these cruises give kids the chance to socialize and build confidence, all while having the time of their lives.
One bonus tip: I recommend finding a Facebook group or Disboards thread for your specific sailing. That way, you can connect with other parents and maybe even help your teen meet a few new friends before you ever step on board!
I hope this helps, Lynn! If you have any other questions as you plan your magical adventure at sea, feel free to cruise back by...we’re always happy to help!
