I have been to Disney several time, but this will be the firsr time with children. One will be turning 5 on the day that we arrive and the second will be almost two. Are the strollers clean and functional? I see you keep recommending to bring your own...

    Traci,

Yes, the strollers are definitely clean and functional - absolutely no complaints there. As with everything else at Disney, you will find them very well maintained.

The reason I tell my friends and family to bring their own stroller is two-fold.

First is the cost. Renting a stroller is expensive! A double stroller is $31 per day (June 2011). Over the course of a week or so, that's a lot of money. I personally would rather have that $300 to put somewhere else in my vacation budget.

Second is the convenience. The rental strollers are hard plastic jogging style strollers. They do not have cup holders for adults or kids, and they do not have storage - both benefits you'll get in a stroller you bring from home. And although I've not tried them out personally, they don't look very comfy!

Also when you bring your own stroller, you can use in on the monorail, and in the parking lots and resorts. When kids are tired and sleeping after a long day, that is much easier than carrying them!
