What Disney restaurants allow you to order off the menu. The last time we used the dining plan, every sit down meal we had was either brought to us "family style" or it was buffet. Is this the way most of the restaurants are?

It sounds like maybe you ate a lot of character meals, which are typically served this way (along with a few non-character meals).  Most of the table service restaurants in Disney are 'order off the menu' types, so you will have many to choose from.  This is not a comprehensive list, but hopefully it will provide a starting point for you in your planning.

    • -most of the resort restaurants (notable exceptions are the Cape May clambake at the Beach Club and O'Hana at the Polynesian, though there are other exceptions as well)
    • -in Epcot's Future World, The Coral Reef, and most restaurants in World Showcase, including the San Angel Inn, Bistro de Paris, Chefs de France, Le Cellier, Rose & Crown, Nine Dragons, Restaurant Marrakesh, Teppan Edo, Tokyo Dining, and Tutto Italia.
    • -in the Magic Kingdom, Cinderella's Royal Table (lunch and dinner), and Tony's Town Square
    • -in Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti and The Rainforest Cafe
    • -in Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Sci-Fi Dine In, the 50's Prime Time Cafe, Brown Derby, and Mama Melrose's.

Again, this is far from a complete list, but it should provide you with food for thought (literally)!
