Hi Linda, and welcome back to planDisney! As a big Disney pin lover myself, I love collecting niche pins. So let’s talk about how you can snag a special pin on your upcoming trip!
Many years ago, I was super excited to get an “under construction” pin when I stayed at
Wilderness Lodge during a refurbishment. It’s such a unique keepsake that always reminds me of my stay there! I’ve occasionally seen other guests talk about “under construction” pins at other resort hotels over the years, but from my understanding, it’s a bit of pixie dust that’s meant to be a surprise.
If you don’t receive one on your upcoming visit, keep an eye out for
pin trading boards and Cast Member lanyards around Disney World. You never know what pins you might find! I’m always on the lookout for pins of my favorite characters, but I’ve also seen ones from special events or giveaways. So you never know if an “under construction” pin might end up on one of those boards or lanyards! We’re also currently celebrating the
25th anniversary of pin trading, so there are special Hidden Disney pins waiting to be found on boards and lanyards throughout the parks and resort hotels this year. I’m really hoping to find the 25 Years of Pin Trading Figment pin on my next trip!
Since it sounds like you have a Disney Resort hotel stay coming up, don’t forget about all of the
amazing perks you get! My favorite for this year is the
complimentary water park admission on check-in day. It’s such a great way to kick off your vacation and cool off!
