when or does Disney open up more reservations for dining? Are they filling up restaurants now? we arrive 7/17, looking for Chef Mickeys breakfast and Sci Fi lunch/dinner on 7/18 and 7/21

Hi Jeff! Welcome back to planDisney!

I see that you've just hit that magic "60-day" mark on your countdown to your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! It's sounding like you and your family are getting really excited and ready to see some of your favorite character pals and dine in some unique locations throughout your trip.  Did you know that if you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel you can actually start booking your dining reservations 60 days in advance for your length of stay as long as it is under 10 days?  For instance, if your trip starts on the 17th, you can book your Walt Disney World dining all the way to the 26th! I would suggest jumping back on to your My Disney Experience Mobile app and checking other days if you haven't already!

In my experience, if I can't seem to find the dining reservations that I'm searching for 60 days in advance I've found great success in checking back just a day or two before I want to dine.  During this time period, some Guests are finalizing their itineraries and canceling previously scheduled dining reservations, opening them up for you and your family to enjoy!  By consistently checking my My Disney Experience app a few times a day we've been able to dine almost everywhere we wished!

If you've already checked for your entire length of stay and you're still having trouble snagging these chosen restaurants my advice is to plan for other dining locations and keep checking for your favorites.  Instead of Chef Mickey's you may be interested in the Garden Grill Restaurant in EPCOT or breakfast at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera at Disney's Riviera Resort.  Both of these dining locations feature some of the same famous characters and are equally delicious!

If you're looking for an out-of-this-world dining experience you may want to look into the new Space 220 Restaurant.  I just dined here a few weeks ago and I'm telling you I'm STILL dreaming about the Carrot Cake I had for dessert! You and your family will board the space elevator to dine among the stars with a view of Earth that you won't soon forget.

Finally, you still have the option of checking out Mobile Dine Walk-up Availability. With your handy My Disney Experience Mobile app you can add your party to the walk-up list of some select restaurants during your visit to the Resort. This is a great way to add in a last-minute table service meal even if you didn't make a reservation ahead of time.

I hope you and your party are able to dine everywhere you wish during your magical vacation but embrace the excitement of trying something new if you can't seem to grab those old favorites!
