we will be at disney next april. we have 3 children all under the age of 6. is it more efficient to rent a car or use the complimentary transportation offered by the resorts?

I also have 3 children very close in age, so I have been in your position. If your budget allows, I personally feel that a rental car is much easier. I feel safer with my children being buckled into their car seats, and I think it is easier to load/unload a stroller in my own car. I don't really like having to empty out the stroller and fold it up on the buses (folding is required before boarding - children cannot stay in their strollers while the bus is in motion.

Maybe it's just the control freak in me? I have friends who feel exactly the opposite - that Disney's transportation is easier. They like not having to worry about a car and find it easier to let Disney do the driving. And certainly nothing is wrong with the Disney system - we've always found it to be satisfactory.

I don't think you will be unhappy either way - it just comes down to where you want to allocate your vacation dollars. For me, a car is worth the investment.
