I will be going to Disney in July with my twin daughters. I know it will be hot and the girls will want me to bring water for them to keep in my backpack. Can I ride the rides with a backpack on?

Hi, Gail! Backpacks are allowed on rides at Walt Disney World theme parks. If it's a "regular" ride (not roller coasters or water rides), you can just place it between your feet.  On thrill rides, there are usually compartments where you can store personal items. You can even take backpacks on water rides, and these attractions usually have a place designated for storage.  Our family backpack never leaves our sight, but there are lockers you can rent if your backpack is too heavy or if you just want to be free of it for a while during the day.  Hope this helps! Have a Magical vacation!
