Hi! I am going to Disney on January 15th and I was wondering what the weather is going to be like? and what I should I pack? and how the crowds/lines are? I usually go to Disney in July/August so I have no idea what to expect in January! Thank you Janine

Hi Janine! If you're used to visiting Walt Disney World in the summer, I think you'll appreciate the cooler temperatures in January.  In mid-January, temperatures average 70 during the day, with evening lows hovering around 50. Of course, it's possible the day you're visiting could be much warmer or much cooler than the average, so it's best to plan to dress in layers. Plan to pack t-shirts that you can wear under sweatshirts or sweaters, which you can peel off as the day heats up. Bring long pants and shorts so you'll be prepared for warm days and cooler nights. Even though it may be cool, pack your bathing suit if you want to swim because the resort pools are heated in the winter months. You can check a site like weather.com a week or so before your trip for a more exact weather forecast. Just type Disney World into the weather.com search box to see it.

Attendance levels in the parks are generally fairly low for much of January, however, you happen to be visiting over Martin Luther King weekend. Holidays tend to cause a spike in attendance at Disney since many people visit when they have a day off from school or work. For this reason, you may notice only slightly fewer people in the parks than you normally see in the summer, but if you're staying past the holiday on Monday, the crowds will be considerably lighter the rest of the week.

Have a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
