Do the Disney Hotels provide wheelchairs for guests to use when they arrive and keep during their stay to get to the parks?

Hi there Claudia, and welcome to planDisney!

You must be so excited about your winter getaway to Walt Disney World. February is the perfect time to escape for some Olaf-approved weather while Elsa is still making things frosty up north. And while you won't be able to build a snowman, there will be plenty of opportunities to create magic at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.

Wheelchairs and other mobility vehicles are available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis at the four theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. Because wheelchairs cannot be removed from their original in-park rental location, if you think someone in your party might benefit from assistance venturing around the resort, I suggest renting from an offsite company so you'll have access to your device at all times. Sometimes, just the walk from bus transportation to the theme park entrance can be daunting, and a wheelchair or ECV can be helpful to cover these distances.

While we were traveling together last spring, my panelist pal, Wyatt, rented an ECV from a company called ScooterBug, Walt Disney World's preferred third-party mobility device vendor. The rental ECV arrived at Bell Services at our resort and was held until he was able to pick it up. At the end of the trip, he left the ECV with Bell Services before departing for the airport; it was so convenient! Our rooms in the South Garden Wing at Disney's Contemporary Resort were a bit of a walk to the main building and resort transportation, so it was especially nice for him to have a mobility device to get home after a long day in the theme parks.

I hope this is helpful, Claudia! While the wheelchair rentals at the theme parks are wonderful, Guests who anticipate needing assistance getting around the hotels (some of which are quite large and spread out), should consider renting from an offsite company such as ScooterBug. My family and I secured strollers from ScooterBug just last summer, and every step of the rental process was smooth and easy. We appreciated having the strollers for walks around our resort and for covering the distance between the bus stops and the theme park entrances. Thanks again for coming by planDisney, and we'll see ya real soon!

Meet the Panelist: Betsy, Maryland

Greetings! I'm Betsy, a middle school teacher, wife, and mom of two. My family and I love to travel the world, but our best memories are those made when we're visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort. No matter how many times we visit, there is always something new to see, ride, or eat at the Disney Parks. Learn More About Betsy
