Hey there, hi there, ho there! You're as welcome as can be at planDisney, Crystal. Thank you for sending in another "Tiggerific" question!
I consider myself a bargain hunter, and one of my favorite ways to budget for my trips to Walt Disney World is to buy Disney Gift Cards. Many people don't realize there are ways to get a discount depending on where you buy them. My Target REDcard gets me a 5% discount on any purchase at Target, including Disney Gift gift cards! Each $500 in gift cards that I purchase is a $25 savings after the 5% off. That's a whole lot of Dole Whips!
Unfortunately, you won't receive a discount on purchases when using your Disney Gift Cards. However, if you happen to be an
Annual Passholder or a
Disney Vacation Club Member, you'll receive a discount at many merchandise and dining locations. I also recommend looking into becoming a
Disney Visa Cardmember. In addition to discounts at select Walt Disney World locations, your purchases will help you earn Disney Rewards Dollars. I use my Reward Redemption card just like a Disney Gift Card when I'm on vacation.
You can certainly use Disney Gift Cards to pay for your
theme park admission and
Walt Disney World hotel accommodations. The only caveat is you can only use one gift card per transaction. Before your trip, set up an account on the
Disney Gift Card website. Here, you can consolidate multiple gift cards, track the balance of your card, and even see a list of transactions made like you would if you were checking a credit card statement. Visit the "My Cards" section to transfer the balances of your cards onto one primary card; you can combine up to six cards for a maximum value of $1,000.
I hope this helps, Crystal! We'd love to share more tips and tricks with you, so please visit us again!
