Hi Rhian!
Thanks for sailing by with another question. I'm happy to report that you can absolutely use
Disney Gift Cards while on a Disney Cruise Line sailing, with a few caveats.
My children often ask for Disney Gift cards as birthday or holiday gifts and save them for our vacations. They love shopping for souvenirs in the
onboard shops and feel like big kids when they complete the transaction using their own gift cards. If you're hoping to purchase merchandise in one of the shops you can do so with a Disney Gift Card, your Key to the World Card, or a
DisneyBand+ available on Disney Wish. However, Port Adventures, Spa Services, premium dining, photo packages, and specially priced food or drink items cannot be purchased with a gift card and instead, will be charged to your Stateroom Folio.
But have no fear, Rhian! You can stop by Guest Services to apply gift cards to your onboard account at the start of your sailing and purchases completed with your Key to the World Card will automatically deduct from the applied gift card credit. If you don't use the full credit before the end of your sailing, the remaining amount will be refunded to your original form of payment. So be sure to maintain possession of your gift cards. If your Stateroom Folio balance exceeds your Onboard Credit, the remainder will be charged to the credit card on file for your reservation.
We really love the
cash-free convenience of Disney Cruise Line vacations. When we're ready to order a specialty coffee (looking at you Salted Caramel Coconut Latte) or a glass of wine, we simply present our Key to the World Card and leave our wallets tucked safely in our stateroom safe. It's a quick and simple way to make purchases around the ship, and we can easily keep track of our account balance right from the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App.
I hope this was helpful! If we can answer any additional questions please float on back and let us know.
Bon voyage!
Amy
