Salutations, Sahar, and welcome to planDisney!
I remember that indescribable feeling when I first became an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World Resort, so I completely understand why you would like to become a
Magic Key holder at Disneyland Resort. There’s nothing quite as wonderful as knowing you have a year of unlimited magic to look forward to. Unfortunately, you may have to hold onto that dream for a bit longer, as sales of new Magic Keys are paused at this time. I suggest keeping a close watch on the
Disney Parks Blog and the
official Disneyland Magic Key account on Instagram for further news on this front, as they will likely be the first sources to report when new Magic Key sales resume. If you are a current Magic Key holder, you can renew your pass up to 30 days prior to your pass’ expiration date. Once it expires though, you will not be able to renew your pass, so keep an eye on the calendar.
As for your specific question, I spoke to a Cast Member who said that in order to use a Disney Gift Card towards the renewal of a Magic Key pass or the purchase of a new one in the future when sales resume, you would need to do so in person at one of the Disneyland Resort ticket booths. If you live close by, this is a great option for you. If you have more than one Disney Gift Card you would like to use, I suggest setting up an account on the
Disney Gift Card website and combining your gift cards there ahead of time. However, if you don’t live close to Disneyland Resort, you might want to reconsider your method of payment.
I hope I was able to answer your question thoroughly, Sahar. If I misunderstood or you need further clarification, don’t hesitate to stop by planDisney again. Have a magical day!
Think happy thoughts,
Alyssa
