We are going to Disney for the first time in June and I am concerned about getting motion sickness on Soarin and Flight of Passage. Would you recommend avoiding this rides for someone who gets motion sickness? Do people often get sick from these rides?

Hi there, Daria! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for taking the time to send in your question and allowing us to help you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

Congratulations on your first trip to Walt Disney World Resort! You’re certainly in for a magical experience!

As someone that also suffers from motion sickness, this is a question I often have to ask whenever experiencing a new attraction. Unfortunately, many of these attraction experiences vary based on the individual. Some Guests get motion sickness from certain attractions while others do not.

In my experience, I did get quite motion sick from Avatar Flight of Passage. Of course, this hasn’t stopped me from experiencing it a few more times but it may induce some nauseousness if you are prone to motion sickness! Soarin’ Around the World gave me a bit of motion sickness but I recovered from it fairly quickly. It’s definitively a much less intense attraction than Avatar Flight of Passage!

Hopefully, you will not get motion sick from either attraction but, if you are prone to motion sickness due to moving screens, I may sit one or both of these attractions out. If you do end up choosing to do so, I would highly recommend taking this chance to grab a snack while your party experiences these attractions! Both Epcot and Disney’s Animal Kingdom offer many tasty dining locations near both of these attractions that you could grab a quick bite to eat from!
