    I am going on the Disney Dream in September. Can you pay for items in the shops and on Castaway Cay with gift cards or cash or do you have to charge it to the key to the world card? Do you have to add the gift cards to the key to the world?

    Welcome aboard, Celena! It sounds like you're beginning your countdown to setting sail with Captain Mickey and his crew on the Disney Dream! I can't wait for you to experience the magic in store for you on the ship!

    All guests will receive a Key To The World Card which will serve as their stateroom key, "ticket" to get on and off the ship, PhotoPass of sorts, and of course their charge card for onboard and Castaway Cay purchases. No cash is taken on the ship, which makes it very easy with only one card to carry!

    If you have Disney gift cards that you'd like to spend, you can use those at the gift shops on the ship. Alternately, you can take the gift cards to Guest Services where they will add those as credits onto your stateroom account to use with your Key To The World Card. I prefer to do that, so that we have everything in one place. Sometimes I've added quite a few gift cards and found at the end of the cruise that we have not used all the credit that I put on the account. In that case, the Cast Members at Guest Services have been happy to refund the remaining balance back onto one of my original Disney gift cards. Be sure to save any gift cards you have added to your account onboard until the end of the sailing so that remaining balances can be refunded if need be.
