We are going on Disney Dream May 1st. What is the earliest you can get to the ship to board? And the optional dress up night, if you choose not to dress formal you can still enjoy the dinner in casual attire? My husband can wear khakis and a polo?

Welcome aboard, Cheryl! You are going to love your sailing on the Disney Dream! It is such an amazing ship with so many different events and activities all day and night, you will certainly have a blast!

As you complete your online check-in, you will choose a port arrival time. The port opens around 11:00 a.m. and guests then check in at the desks inside the terminal. There will be a bit of time to wait before the boarding begins around noon or 1:00. Each party is assigned a boarding number as they check in at the terminal, so have a seat, watch a Disney cartoon on one of the many tv's around the terminal and get a photo with Mickey or Minnie, both of whom usually pop out to visit with guests. It's not a bad idea to pack a couple snacks in your carry-on bags in case your kids get hungry as they wait in the terminal.

Then, as your number is called, walk onto the gorgeous ship as the Cast Members announce your family name and applaud your arrival! What a way to start the vacation! Then it's lunchtime onboard!

Since your sailing has the optional dress-up night, you can certainly choose not to dress up that night. However, I'd suggest sticking with the cruise casual dress code. Disney asks that shorts and jeans not be worn in the main dining restaurants, but your husband would fit in perfectly with long khakis and a polo for a cruise casual night.

I hope that information helps, Cheryl! Only a couple weeks until you set sail! Have fun with the final planning before you head off to sea with Disney!
