we will be going on disney dream in july and i was reading somewhere that you have to put a minimum of $300 on your key to the world card when you arrive. does anyone know if this is true as my travel agent never mentioned this when we discussed this topic

Welcome back, Tamara! Your cruise date in inching closer and closer, as we come to the middle of April right now! Are you getting even more excited for the wonderful vacation you'll enjoy this summer?

I can clarify the $300 cash minimum you may have seen somewhere. If you will be settling your onboard stateroom account (any onboard purchases and Port Adventure charges, etc...), with a credit card, there is no need to worry about anything. Your charges will simply appear on your stateroom account and be charged to your credit card on file at the end of your sailing.

Now, if you want to settle your account with cash and no credit card, it is a bit different. For cruises of two to five nights, guests settling with cash can charge up to $300 on their Key To The World Card for purchases before they will need to stop down to Guest Services to settle that account with cash. They will then be given another $300 "line of credit" type of allowance to charge again before they need to again settle with cash. Alternately, you can opt to pay any time before then.

Another easy way to stay away from using credit cards is to purchase Disney Gift Cards to use toward your onboard account. We buy ours at our local grocery store when they offer fuel rewards on gift card purchases so we can also save on filling up our car! Then, simply call your travel agent or stop by Guest Services once onboard to add these gift cards as credits to your account. Any credit left at the end of your cruise can be put back onto one of the original Disney Gift Cards.

I hope those details help as you continue to plan your cruise, Tamara. Stop back again if you have any other questions before you set sail this summer!
