We are going on the Disney dream cruise in May 2014. My children are ages 13, 10, and 8. We are undecided if we should do an excursion when we port in Nassau or just stay on the boat? What excursions would be best?

Welcome aboard, Jessica! It's only a month until your family gets to set sail on the Disney Dream! Before you know it, you'll be arriving at Port Canaveral and walking into the atrium lobby of the ship as the Cast Members announce your family name and applaud your arrival! How exciting!

Nassau is a really fun port with lots to offer. We loved Blue Lagoon Island so much when we were there last fall, so it's worth checking out the Blue Lagoon Beach Day or even the dolphin swim on the island. Of course, many guests want to check out the one-of-a-kind Atlantis Resort by taking one of Disney Cruise Line's Port Adventures there.

If you are not set on one of the Nassau Port Adventures, it's a great day to stay onboard and take advantage of the AquaDunk and pools when there are less crowds, as most other guests will head into port. My family does this sometimes and loves the relaxing day onboard. We also love to use that day to play the Midship Detective Agency game onboard! What fun! Plus, there will still be great activities and events happening around the ship and of course the Youth Clubs will be open for all sorts of fun for your kids.

Alternately, you might consider walking off the ship on your own and exploring Nassau and the straw market, which are just a short walk from the port area. Then, you can head back to the Dream for lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

Whatever you choose to do, it'll be wonderful! Have fun planning, Jessica!
